How to Merge Duplicate Profiles

When managing all the people that come to your business, sometimes the same person gets added twice! This commonly happens on Inventory-only Landing Pages, where schools set the Page to only create Contacts so they can sell items to existing Students.

The Contact List has an option on each person for admins to merge them into a Student profile (Normal Employee profiles cannot perform this action).

How to Merge

  1. Navigate to the Contact List, then find the person you want.
    • Filters on the right side and a search bar allow you to narrow down results.
    • If there are multiple profiles you want to merge into a Student, do them one at a time.
  2. Click the kebab (three vertical dots) on the far right of the table row, then the Merge option.
  3. In the modal that pops up, select the correct match.
    • Potential matches are shown if they have the same name, phone number, and/or email address.
    • If none of the matches are correct, you can also use the search box to select someone.
  4. Click Merge.
  5. On the Contact List, the row that person was in will be replaced with a link to their Student profile.

Merged Data

Information that existed on the Contact profile and not on the Student (for example: Source, email, birthday, Payment Method) will be added to the Student one. If both profiles have data in a field, the Student’s information will take precedence.

Note how the Student’s Source took precedence over the Contact’s. The Contact profile’s original data is visible in the History module.

The Student’s History module will have an event for the Merge, which can be expanded to view all data from the original Contact profile.

The Merged tab of the Contact List will also list all Merge events.
