2024 Kicksite Software Updates Recap

Now that 2024 has come to a close, we wanted to take a moment to look back at the most notable updates made to the Kicksite software over the course of the year. We are always working to fine-tune and upgrade the system, and while some of those improvements are easy to see as you’re managing your school, sometimes there are less tangible (but equally important) updates that happen behind the scenes! Read on to check out our recap and as always, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Kicksite team if you need any additional trainings or assistance with the software.

Major 2024 Uplifts

Agreements Uplift

With our January 2024 Agreements uplift, we released a new centralized hub for managing all of your agreements and waivers. In the Agreements section, you can quickly create and customize agreement templates, send or sign agreements on the spot, and easily view and manage all signed and unsigned documents for your students. A simple also filter allows you to narrow your view down to certain agreement templates.

Programs Uplift

Also released in January 2024, the Programs uplift was a complete overhaul of the Kicksite Classic Programs feature. This update was not only a necessary visual overhaul of the Ranks Overview, Eligible to Promote and Promotions sections, it also helped improve overall user experience while navigating these areas and introduced new functionality. Collapsible lists, single-click promotion, and filters have helped make it make much more convenient and simple to manage your student ranks and promotions.

Family Profiles Uplift

Easily our biggest and most notable update in 2024, the entire Kicksite team was thrilled to roll out the uplifted Family Profile in August 2024! This new Family Profile was just the beginning of a much larger Families effort we are working on, and we are excited to introduce more in 2025! With the new Family Profile, you have access to features like:

  • Setting family Primaries who can view and manage information for all family members
  • Quickly viewing key family member profile details with hover cards
  • Easily adding new family members from existing students or by creating new students, all in the same simple modal
  • Adding family contacts who will receive important school information, but WON’T impact your active student total
  • A comprehensive family finances module that allows you to view and manage invoices, payment methods, and more for the entire family. Convenient filters let you view just one family member if needed!
  • Managing memberships for all family members from the family profile
  • Adding and pinning comments to the family profile so admins and staff can have all crucial information at a glance

Other 2024 Kicksite software updates

Bulk Sending Agreements and User Account Invites

These two 2024 releases are a reflection of our continued work on the Student List in Kicksite, and a desire to make it as easy as possible for owners and staff like you to save time by executing bulk tasks through that list. As you navigate to the Student List, you’ll now see ‘Add Agreements’ and ‘Send User Account Invites’ in the Actions list at the top of the page, along with other functions like Mass Check In, Change Status, and Delete People.

Student Profile Improvements

To coincide with our Family Profiles release, we also made improvements to the Student Profile to ensure a consistent experience while navigating between the two. This also included:

  • The rollout of Student Profile module customization, which allows you to reorder or hide the modules within a Student Profile.
  • Introducing Pinned Comments, so you and your staff can more easily highlight and prioritize crucial student information.
  • A History Module rework

Family Management Form Invites

With the launch of the new uplifted Family Profile, we recognized that there were many schools who had Families previously set up in Kicksite Classic, with contact information that likely hadn’t been updated or cleaned up in quite a while. In an effort to facilitate this process and allow schools to use the new Family Profile to the fullest, we introduced a Family Management Form. When you send a Family Management Form invitation, families are directed to a form where they can clean up and assign phone numbers and email addresses. And most importantly, they are prompted to establish their Primary Contact, which is a key element of the new Family Profile.

Mobile Updates

More and more, people run their lives from their phones, and running your martial arts school is no exception! We recognize this need and have continued working to enhance the Kicksite mobile experience, and help you manage your business on the go. At the end of 2023, we rolled out some updates to the mobile experience in the Memberships section, and in early 2024 we followed that up with some additional mobile updates to these sections that improve the user experience and functionality:

  • Attendance Log
  • Agreements
  • Student List

We look forward to continuing these updates and making sure our software meets the ever-growing needs for people to work on their mobile device!

Ruby on Rails 7 Upgrade

You know how we mentioned those things that sometimes happen behind the scenes and may not be a fancy new feature, but have a big impact on the software’s functionality and user experience? This is one of them! So what on earth is Ruby on Rails? The short answer is that Ruby is a programming language, and Ruby on Rails is a framework written in that programming language. It’s effectively the entire foundation on which Kicksite’s software is built. Needless to say, it’s pretty crucial that we keep this framework as up-to-date as possible to ensure that the software continues functioning as intended, and with the speed and efficiency that our customers need. This upgrade was no small task – countless hours of labor and testing went into this upgrade, but we’re happy to say we made it happen in 2024!
