Tip: How to Delete a Membership with Students Attached

You may find that you have a membership that is no longer needed. For example, maybe you no longer offer yoga classes, and you want to delete the Yoga membership in Kicksite. But when you try to delete it in the Membership Templates list, you don’t see the delete option.

This is because before you can delete the membership, you first need to inactivate the membership for all students who have it, then delete the memberships. The membership needs to be inactivated and then deleted for all students (that includes active, inactive, and frozen students).

To remove memberships from students:

1. Go to the Memberships List by clicking your username in the upper-right corner, selecting Settings, and then clicking the Memberships tab. Alternatively, click Quick Links in the left panel menu, click Memberships, and the click Memberships List.
2. Use the filters on the right side to narrow down the list to just the students who have the membership you want to delete attached. Click Membership Templates and select the membership(s) you want to delete.
3. Click the Person / Family Status filter and then click All (to make sure you can find all students with the membership attached).
4. Click the Inactivate icon on each row on the Active tab; click the Inactivate button in the pop-up window. If you see a number on the Expired tab, click the Expired tab and then click the Inactivate icon on each row for this tab, too.
5. After you have inactivated all the memberships, click the Inactive tab.
6. Click the Delete icon and then click the Delete button in the pop-up window.

These steps may take some time to complete, depending on how many students you have attached to the membership you want to delete.

To delete the membership on the Membership Templates tab:

1. After you have deleted all memberships using the steps above, click the Membership Templates tab.
2. Click the kebab (three vertical dots) on the row for the membership you want to delete, and then click Delete.
3. Click OK in the pop-up to delete the membership.
